Chikmagalur is in the state of Karnataka, india, and is a beautiful place surrounded by coffee estates, mountains, valleys and small lakes.

In 1987, he former Bishop of Chikmagalur, Rt. Rev. Dr. J.B. Sequeira invited the Bridgettines to Chikmagalur. Sisters came to Chikmagalur in 1993, stayed in a rented house, to supervise the work of the building. It was a humble beginning with four sisters, and today, over the years it has grown. The hostel has 110 students. The young adults are taken care of by the sisters who overlook their spiritual, physical and psychological needs.

Daily Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Holy Mass, and Liturgy of the Hours is held. Beside the Hostel, there is a Kindergarten with 30-40 children. Services are rendered to the Bishop’s House and chapel. Giving service to the local Church, stitching altar linen for the parishes churches, distributing Communion, teaching Catechism, visit the families in the vicinity, preparing the children for First Holy Communion and Confirmation and fruit garden are also maintained by the sisters.
