Goa
March 25th, 1994
Divar, Goa, is the tenth foundation in India. It was a long cherished dream to start a convent in Goa-having tried several times before unsuccessfully.
Finally on 25th March 1994 the plan of God was realize and the convent opened. Mr. Robert to Bras Alfonso and his two sisters gifted the whole property to the Bridgettines with an aim to have a centre for prayer and missionary work on this island. The people were very happy to have a convent in their village and to have the daily adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Fr. Nonato Araujo blessed the foundation stone for the new chapel and the guest house.
The adoration chapel at Divar magnetizes many people to Jesus to savour the sweetness of His love. The legion of Mary and Intercessory groups conduct prayers in our chapel.
The sisters provide shelter for the pilgrims who come to visit different churches in Goa especially the Bom Jesus Church where St. Francis Xavier’s relics are preserved. Having a small nursery for children, teaching catechism, decorating the altar for various celebrations, helping in the sacristy and visiting the families drives the rhythm of daily life for the sisters.
